Celebrating Synergy and Innovation: The Final Event of the EUSMARTCOMPOSER Project in Göteborg.

A meeting that marked the pinnacle of transnational collaboration and innovation in music education.

From 20 to 22 September 2023, Göteborg was the venue for the final meeting of the Erasmus + EUSMARTCOMPOSER project, an initiative that, for two years, has woven a network of knowledge and experience between music educators and students from different countries in Europe.

EU SMART Composer is not just any project. It is the union of different visions and efforts aimed at creating a vital tool for the transfer of knowledge about music composition, with the objective of broadening the career prospects of future composition professionals.

The international consortium behind EU SMART Composer consists of Coompanion Göteborg ek. för (Sweden), the coordinating entity, Consorzio Materahub Industrie Culturali e Creative (Italy), Abbaye aux Dames – La cite musicale-Saintes (France), Le Laba (France), RESEO- European Network for Opera and Dance Education (Belgium) and Wazo Coop -Cooperativa social (Spain).

Prior to our meeting in Göteborg, the project was developed in different cities. Matera in Italy, Saintes in France and Cáceres in Spain witnessed our evolution and consolidation. But it was in Göteborg, under the watchful coordination of Coompanion Göteborg, that the last chapter of this phase found its end point.

The working sessions, hosted in Yes Box’s facilities, were intense, defining the final strokes of a handbook that promises to be the guide for innovative music teaching. This manual is the result of our journey, the mirror reflecting the methodologies we have developed in cooperation.

As the days progressed, we also outlined the ‘multiplyer events’, essential events to spread the essence of our project in our home countries.

It was an intense working meeting, as well as an emotional one, as it was the last time the team will meet in person. However, we were able to enjoy the wonderful hospitality of our Swedish partners and the wonderful city of Göteborg. Moreover, we have the firm conviction that we will meet again in future projects!

In the coming months we will finish producing all the material we have been working on and we will be able to disseminate it on our website and social networks.

Stay tuned!

EU SMART Composer – Train of Trainers (Saintes, France)

EU SMART COMPOSER Transnational Meeting

The transnational meeting of the EU SMART COMPOSER project took place on 30-31 March at the Abbaye Aux Dames in Saintes, France.

EU SMART COMPOSER is a biannual Erasmus + project that is developing a practical tool to facilitate knowledge transfer between music teachers and their students to improve their employability.

The international consortium behind EU SMART Composer consists of Coompanion Göteborg ek. för (Sweden), the coordinating entity, Consorzio Materahub Industrie Culturali e Creative (Italy), Abbaye aux Dames – Lacite musicale-Saintes (France), Le Laba (France), RESEO– European Network for Opera and Dance Education (Belgium) and Wazo Coop (Spain).

The activities, in an informal way, started on the afternoon of Tuesday 30th March with a meeting of all the people who were going to be present at the following two days of meetings. During the meeting, there was the opportunity to meet in person some participants who did not have the opportunity to visit Saintes at the previous meeting held in September, as well as to thoroughly plan the work plan.

Of course, we had the opportunity to meet again the wonderful building of the Abbaye aux Dames, a place where heritage and music can be breathed in every corner.

The morning of 30 March began with a general introduction to the evolution of the project and with the focus on the work of Train of Trainers that was to take place during the stay in Saintes.

Omar Shahryar from the RESEO organisation began to work on the content of the first Train of Trainers module, which consisted of an explanation of the project itself, as well as the welcome and the methodology that will be provided to the future Trainers.

The morning session continued to develop with different processes of co-creation of the content, a tone that would be maintained throughout the meeting.

On Wednesday afternoon, Abbaye aux Dames and Le Laba were in charge of developing the second module «Branding and Marketing», led by music branding expert Emily Gonneau and supported by Antoine Zenoni. It was an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand about the needs and challenges of future composers in the music industry and market, always from a social point of view.

The next day, the 31st of March, started with the presentation of module 2 «Empowerment and leadership» by Coompanion, led by Ebba Westerberg and Björn Granat. An interesting and interactive session, where the possibilities of empowerment and its importance in building a solid career for composers were investigated.

The last afternoon session was led by José Luis Díaz from Wazo Coop, Roberta Capozucca and Carlo Ferreti from Matera Hub. The corresponding module was «Cooperative Entrepreneurship», where in addition to developing the theme and talking about the benefits and resilience of the Social Economy, there was the opportunity to co-create a series of very useful tools for teachers and students.

We also had the online presence of Diana Ghinea from Coompanion, Marta Lozano Molano from Wazo Coop and Mikko Laamanen from Reseo.

Undoubtedly an intense but extremely productive meeting, the results of which will be put into practice next September in Matera (Italy).

Transnational Meeting EU SMART COMPOSER – France

EU SMART COMPOSER is a biannual Erasmus + project that is developing a practical tool to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between music teachers and their students to improve their employability. This project stems from the Composer Boost program developed in Extremadura in recent years by Wazo Coop.

The international consortium promoting EU SMART Composer is formed by Coompanion Göteborg ek. för (Sweden), the coordinating entity, Consorzio Materahub Industrie Culturali e Creative (Italy), Abbaye aux Dames – Lacite musicale-Saintes (France), Le Laba (France), RESEO- European Network for Opera and Dance Education (Belgium) and Wazo Coop (Spain).

On September 15th and 16th, the transnational meeting of the European project EU SMART COMPOSER took place at the Abbaye Aux Dames in Saintes, France.

The activities began on the morning of Wednesday September 15 with a guided tour of the Abbaye aux Dames, where we had the opportunity to enjoy and learn about its impressive heritage, as well as to deepen the important musical activity of the building.

This was followed by Diana Ghine a from Coompanion, who shared with the rest of the consortium the progress of the EuSmartComposer project management, monitoring and reporting.

The morning was spent with a continuous debate on the project and the different points of view of the consortium and we were able to learn from RESEO the results of the previous desk research and the results of the surveys conducted by the different organizations that make up the consortium.

The afternoon began with Wazo Coop and RESEO leading the debate on the different approaches to the didactic method of the project and the sharing of the case studies carried out by each partner.

The end of the day was a very interesting opportunity for the different people who are part of the consortium to get to know each other better, sharing concerns and points of view about EuSmartComposer, as well as about different aspects related to our work.

The day of Thursday, September 16 began with an intense activity of co-design of the training packs, where we had the opportunity to focus on the needs in terms of branding, entrepreneurship, digital marketing and leadership. These activities were led by Wazo Coop and also involved an interesting debate on the different aspects discussed.

Then Marta Lozano Molano from Wazo Coop shared the project launched through a crowdfunding campaign «Música Social» as a success story, the publication of a method of musical composition and piano that facilitates education in values in young people according to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030.

During the afternoon, several workshops of co-design and debate on the results (Intellectual Outputs) of EuSmartComposer took place, with the participation of all the organizations, to later share the results and expectations of the Transnational Meeting and say goodbye knowing a little more about the cities of Saintes and Bordeaux.
